2007 CHARITY EVENT

This years charity event was held on the 18th September with the aim of raising money for this years selected charities, The Teenage Cancer Trust and the Parkstone Girl's Grammer School new minibus fund.  The day resulted in a total of £1205.80p being raised, which is being divided equally between the two charities.

How it worked.

Anglers booked in for the trip as individuals and like any other inshore trip agreed to pay the usual daily rate of £35.  The rate today however included bait and a brand new rod and reel, which anglers were able to keep.  The new rod and reel outfit was however a kiddies outfit comprising a light weight solid fibreglass spinning rod and fixed spool reel loaded with 8lb monofilement line.  This was the only outfit that the anglers were allowed to use in what was a fun competition to catch as many species as possible.  All of the boat fees were included in the money raised for charity with additional funds coming from sponsorship.  Anglers were either sponsored a set amount to attend the competition, or an amount for each species that they were able to catch.  A prize of a free individual place on a singles trip on True Blue was awarded to the top angler on the day and to the person returning the most sponsorship money within one month of the event.

This was a fun day open to youngsters and adults alike.  It was fished in good conditions and resulted in reasonable fishing throughout the day.  A total of twelve species were landed.  These were,  Goby, Tompot Blenny, Smoothound, Bass, Mackerel, Bream, Tub Gurnard, Plaice, Ballan Wrasse, Garfish, Poor Cod,and Pouting.

A Special Thanks

A big thank you goes to everyone who took part and/or supported this event, but a special thank you has to go to angler Mike Lynch who sadly at very short notice was unable to fish on the day. Not wanting the good causes to lose out, Mike kindly sent a cheque for £260.  This was the largest amount returned by any angler and as such, Mike wins the second free days fishing on True Blue.
